San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) February 01, 2012

A celebration of African Music. Genial Nigerian bandleader Baba Ken Okulolo returns to the Osher Marin JCC’s Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts with The Nigerian Brothers, consisting of core musicians from Kotoja and the West African Highlife Band: Pope Flyne, Soji Odukogbe, and Lemuel Barrow. Baba Ken is one of the few popular African artists of today whose roots extend deep into traditional village life and folk music and together, they recreate the sweet sounds of their earliest village memories. They bring traditional folk melodies, ‘palmwine tunes, and highlife songs to life with harmonious voices, acoustic guitars, and hand percussion instruments. Traditional, acoustic, rhythmic, live music of Africa.

This is the music they grew up with, music that was played under the moonlight, gentle but joyously rhythmic, ranging from lilting lullabies to dance-inspiring tunes and energetic anthems. It is a special treat for those who enjoy an authentic sound, offering to all the universal healing magic of African music.

The evening begins at 7:00 with the opportunity to join others in an African dance instruction that will help maximize fun on the dance floor throughout the evening.
