Eco-Wine Tours Launches a One-of-a-Kind “Eco-vehicle”
Willamette Valley, Oregon (GrapeVineTrail)- Eco-Wine Tours announced today they are now giving tours in their one-of-a-kind “eco-vehicle”.
Eco-Wine Tours is an educational-based wine tour company focusing on sustainability. Their mission is to educate wine consumers about wine, sustainability and the Willamette Valley.
The “eco-vehicle” is a Mercedes Benz bio-diesel sprinter van retrofitted with sustainable materials. It combines sustainability with luxury, making the wine tour a very unique experience.
What makes the “eco-vehicle” eco? Eco-Wine Tours worked with local artisans and suppliers to create a new “green” interior. The floors and siding are made of sliced wine corks. Bamboo veneer and planks outline the bottom of the seats and the cabinets. Part of the bamboo was reclaimed from a local LEED Platinum interior building, while other sections came from a locally-based bamboo specialist company, Bamboo Revolution (www.bamboorevolution.com). Endura Wood Products (www.endurawood.com), a high-level sustainable woods company, built the beautiful table-top made from used Willamette Valley wine vats. You can’t miss the pinot noir stains to prove it!
Then there are the not so obvious “green” materials: the limo style seat cushions made from soy, the warm LED lights and the welcome mat made from coconut fibers. Even the wine display case, featuring wines from local sustainable vineyards, was reclaimed from an old wine bar.
That’s not all. The “eco-story” of the company has many levels – from the vehicle to the vineyard. But, the addition of the “eco-vehicle” creates a complete “eco-wine” experience.
Eco-Wine Tours was started by a return Peace Corps volunteer who worked on eco-tourism projects in Africa. The company focuses on the 4P’s – People, Planet, Profit, and Pinot. For more information, please contact Eco-Wine Tours, www.eco-winetours.com.
