Construction Advances on Oregon Wine Country's First Luxury Inn & Spa
NEWBERG, Ore., Oct. 8 (GrapeVineTrail.com) -- A clear vision of Oregon wine country's first luxury inn and spa is quickly developing as all four levels of the 155,000-square-feet building move into the advanced construction phase.
The Allison Inn & Spa (http://www.TheAllison.com), scheduled to open in August 2009, is generating widespread interest from oenophiles and other visitors to the lush Yamhill Valley. In addition, overnight guests, conference, event and wedding planners have reserved dates in anticipation of the inn's opening just prior to next fall's wine crush.
The Allison is the largest luxury resort development in the entire Willamette Valley wine region, running from the Eugene area past the hills of Dundee to the north or a distance of about 100 miles.
The Allison's owner, Joan Austin, said "This is my dream coming to life. The Allison is a legacy project and a tribute to the seven generations of the Austin family who tilled the soil, planted and harvested crops in this valley."
Interior designer Carol Schaefer of GGLO, Seattle, is responsible for one of the most anticipated of the inn's components -- a fully built-out and sumptuously furnished model room. The guestroom on display, at nearly 500 square feet, is representative of the inn's 53 Deluxe King rooms. The Allison also will offer guests a choice of 12 Deluxe Queen rooms, 12 Junior Suites, 7 One-Bedroom Suites and one Two-Bedroom Grande Suite with nearly 1,600 square feet of luxurious space on the top level.
The guestroom interiors will feature light and dark contrasting woods, as well as custom fabrics, furnishings and fixtures. Original artwork, dyed fiber rugs, fireplaces, terraces, balconies and spacious window seats with large viewing windows are notable design elements. Schaefer said carpets, woods and fabrics all were chosen for their "green" and sustainable features since The Allison will seek LEED certification.
The Allison Offers Total Amenities Package
Four levels are currently under construction, including The Allison's spacious entry with a dramatic glass-enclosed spiral staircase, signature restaurant and bar, spacious ballroom and foyer, conference rooms and two private dining rooms.
A 15,000-square-feet spa with 12 treatment rooms will offer a private suite for parties and special occasions, men's, women's and couple's lounges, outdoor terraces and garden views.
A fitness center, indoor "deck-level" swimming pool and spa pool will complete the spa area while folding glass doors open onto the outdoor South Pool Terrace.
The Allison's 84-seat signature restaurant will showcase Oregon's agricultural bounty, along with the region's acclaimed wines, microbrews and hand-crafted distilled spirits. The restaurant, bar and open kitchen all will evoke an ambiance of casual elegance.
Woodland Gardens, Groves, Footpaths and Vineyards
Guests arriving at The Allison can expect to experience the wonder of nature in the 32 acres surrounding the property.
"Guests driving up Allison Lane will be welcomed by vistas that include five acres of vineyards, quaking aspen and meadow gardens," said Mark Sindell, landscape architect for GGLO, Seattle.
The tree-lined arrival court will welcome guests while entries to the restaurant, spa and ballroom area will be linked by cascading pools and stone seating areas.
Outdoor venues such as the Pool Terrace, Estate Garden, Meadow Garden, Woodland Overlook and Allison Vineyards were all thoughtfully designed to accommodate private parties, wedding ceremonies and picnics.
Stone walls and cypress hedges of the Spa Garden will highlight terraces with outdoor fireplaces, water features and rustic stone paving. Herb gardens, bordered by rows of lavender, add to the local Oregon bounty featured in the restaurant.
