Traveling Vineyard - Who are we?

I have had some emails from some readers interested in finding out what are company actually does, so I thought I would give you all a semi- brief synopsis.

The Traveling Vineyard operates in half of the states in the US. We are revolutionizing the wine tasting experience because we are turning living rooms into tasting rooms. Do not get me wrong- NOTHING beats a wine tasting at a vineyard, but there are many reasons why we can't always find a way to get to a vineyard. For instance, If you live in Allentown, PA. and want to try all italian wines and you can't get 10 friends to Tuscany, Italy or even Santa Barbara...try 5 of TTV's italian wines or California wines in your living room! See?

Wine Tasting- Appreciation By Practice

The Flavors of Wine Tasting

We have all heard wine descriptions that make us want to roll our eyes while wondering if the person doing the describing really knows what they’re talking about. How can wine made from grapes, have a nuance of mocha or a hint of melon and pineapple? During wine tasting, we are often asked questions like, “Do you put cherries in the wine to get that taste and bouquet?” or “how can wine taste and have aromas like apple and pears?”

Oxygen is the enemy of wine, correct? Yes, well at least mostly. As a winemaker, we go to great effort to prevent oxygen from “spoiling” the wine following fermentation. The cork has been the medium for years that allows for the slow transpiration of gasses to and from the wine bottle during aging. Cork has properties, like an oak barrel, that allow for a very slow and measurable exchange of gasses (CO2 out, and oxygen in) to and from the wine bottle. Many other closure products are available in today’s winemaking practices, ranging from silicon rubber “corks” to “screw-top” type packaging. All of these products are designed to prevent oxygen from spoiling the wine.

The Brownsville Herald

February 19, 2006 — Nearly a year ago, a group of five friends stopped at a bed and breakfast in the Texas wine country on their way home from a trip to Arkansas. After touring a winery, shopping, receiving spa treatments and drinking wine, they went home to Brownsville feeling refreshed and inspired.
