Texas Wine and Wineries
Overview
Texas has been producing wine since 1662, when Franciscan monks first discovered they could make wine from the native grapes. Prohibition brought many challenges, but Texas rebounded and has been bringing top rated wines to the Lone Star state for years.
There are four distinct regions to the Texas wine country from rolling hills, fertile valleys, windswept coasts and temperate plains. The grape has found its paradise all across the Lone Star State and welcomes you to tempt your palate, expand your horizons and GoTexan.
Texas wineries are broken down by regions. You can click here to see a map of the Texas Regions. These regions are referenced with the wineries as well to assist in your travel plans.
